About comedy in Washington
The Warner Theatre and DAR Constitution Hall cover a lot of the downtown concert nights. The Lincoln Theatre is on U Street. Sixth & I is the nearby room in a historic synagogue, and it hosts comedy along with the talks it is better known for. The Anthem, at the Wharf, is the large general-admission hall. The 9:30 Club appears when a comic plays the V Street room most people associate with music. The club people mean when they say "a comedy club in DC" is the DC Improv on Connecticut Avenue, near Farragut Square. That club keeps its own calendar. These listings are the theater and hall dates. If you want the club night, use the Improv's own site. If you want the touring show in a seated theater or a big hall, use this page and read the neighborhood before you pick a Metro stop. The Wharf, U Street, and downtown are three different evenings.
DC on-sales are easy to miss if you only look on Friday. The FindStandup alert on this page emails you when a new Washington show is added at any of these rooms.
